Bali’s rainfall can vary sharply by month and location, so there is no single island-wide “dry-season” guarantee for visitors. BMKG recorded monthly rainfall ranging from 123.5 mm to 932.0 mm in January 2026, while its 2025 annual bulletin recorded a daily total of 385.5 mm on 10 September.
How much rain can Bali receive?
BMKG’s January 2026 climate bulletin reported rainfall of 123.5 mm to 932.0 mm per month across Bali, with the highest monthly total of 932.0 mm and 24 rainy days in northern and central Bangli, according to BMKG, 2026.
The same bulletin recorded a maximum one-day rainfall of 203.0 mm in northern Tabanan, according to BMKG, 2026. These figures describe observed conditions, not a forecast for every destination.
Does rainfall differ across the island?
Yes. BMKG’s August 2025 analysis recorded rainfall from 0.0 mm to 231.5 mm per month, with the highest total in southern Karangasem’s Sidemen area and 11 rainy days, according to BMKG, 2025.
The difference between the August and January observations shows why conditions in Bali should be checked for the specific date and area rather than inferred from a general seasonal label.
What were the most intense events in 2025?
BMKG’s Bali climate bulletin recorded daily rainfall above 50 mm on several dates in 2025, including 385.5 mm on 10 September, according to BMKG, 2025. The bulletin also recorded 25 rainy days in January and 20 rainy days in March and May.
What does this mean for travel planning?
Rainfall records are useful for understanding exposure to wet conditions, but they do not replace date-specific weather information. BMKG’s Bali climatology station provides rainfall forecasts for 10-day periods, three-month periods and the expected start of the rainy or dry season, according to BMKG.
Bali’s tourism demand remains substantial: BPS recorded 697.11 thousand direct foreign-tourist visits in July 2025 and 3.98 million from January through July 2025, according to BPS, 2025. Those arrival figures count visits and do not indicate that weather conditions will be uniform across the island.
