Copyright

All news, photographs, video, graphics, and page design at baliobserver.com are protected by Indonesian Law Number 28 of 2014 on Copyright. Copyright in the journalism published here is held by PT. Kabar Delapan Belas as publisher, except for third-party material stated otherwise in its credit line.

What you may do

• Read, print, and save articles for personal, educational, and research use.
• Share article links on social media, in private messages, and on other sites.
• Quote part of an article for news reporting, criticism, review, or research, citing "The Bali Observer" and linking directly to the original article. A quotation should not exceed roughly one fifth of the article.

What requires written permission

• Republishing an article in full or in substantial part elsewhere, including online outlets, print, aggregators, messaging channels, and newsletters.
• Altering the content, headline, credit, or date of an article and circulating it as our work in that form.
• Removing or obscuring the author's name, photo credits, or sources.
• Using The Bali Observer content for commercial, advertising, or promotional purposes.
• Extracting site content automatically at scale, including for training artificial intelligence models, without a written agreement with the publisher.
• Copying the layout, name, or logo of The Bali Observer in a way that falsely suggests another site is affiliated with us.

Republication requests

Requests to republish, translate, or otherwise use The Bali Observer material go to redaksi@baliobserver.com with the subject "Permission". State the article link, the intended use, the outlet, and the period. Permission is granted in writing, is limited in scope, and is not transferable.

Third-party photographs and material

Some photographs and video come from third parties — state institutions, news agencies, source documentation, or openly licensed archives. Such material carries its credit and licence in the caption. Rights remain with the owner, and permission to reuse must be sought from that owner directly.

Reporting a copyright infringement

If you hold rights in material published at baliobserver.com without permission, write to redaksi@baliobserver.com with the subject "Copyright". Include the link to the page concerned, proof of ownership, and your relationship to the work. Reports are examined and acted on within two working days of a complete report reaching us. Where the claim is made out, the material is removed or its credit corrected, and you are told the outcome.

Reader submissions

By sending text, photographs, video, or data to the newsroom you confirm that the material is your own work or that you are entitled to supply it, and you grant PT. Kabar Delapan Belas permission to publish it, edit it as necessary, and archive it at baliobserver.com. Copyright remains yours. The newsroom may decline a submission without giving reasons, and pays no fee unless agreed in writing beforehand.
