Bali’s tourism economy reached a post-pandemic milestone in 2025: the province recorded 6.94 million foreign-tourist visits, while its economy grew 5.82 percent year on year. The figures show tourism’s continuing scale, but they count visits and economic growth—not the number of unique people or tourism’s exact share of growth.
How many foreign tourists visited Bali in 2025?
Bali recorded 6.94 million foreign-tourist visits during 2025, according to the Bali provincial government citing the Bali Statistics Agency, BPS, in 2026. The government said this surpassed the pre-pandemic situation, but the figure is a count of visits rather than a published count of unique travellers.
How fast did Bali’s economy grow?
Bali’s economy grew 5.82 percent in 2025 compared with 2024, according to BPS figures presented by the provincial government in 2026. The same source said national economic growth was 5.11 percent in 2025.
What do the official tourism statistics count?
BPS reported 697.11 thousand direct foreign-tourist visits to Bali in July 2025, up 11.42 percent from July 2024, according to its September 2025 release. From January through July 2025, BPS recorded 3.98 million foreign-tourist visits, up 12.46 percent from the same period in 2024.
For July 2025, Australians accounted for 23.10 percent of foreign-tourist visits, followed by visitors from China at 8.56 percent and India at 6.50 percent, according to BPS, 2025. These monthly figures are not interchangeable with the full-year total because they cover different periods.
What did domestic travel add?
Domestic tourism also formed a substantial part of Bali’s visitor activity. BPS recorded 2.29 million domestic-tourist trips to Bali in July 2025, including 1.80 million intra-provincial trips and 494.01 thousand inter-provincial trips.
Badung was the leading destination for domestic-tourist trips in that month, with 604.71 thousand trips, while travellers from East Java made 172.26 thousand trips to Bali, according to BPS, 2025. These are trips, not necessarily distinct visitors.
What changes for Bali?
The official figures establish that visitor volumes and the wider economy both expanded in 2025, giving policymakers a basis for planning tourism, transport and public services. They do not, by themselves, show how much of the 5.82 percent growth came from tourism or how evenly tourism activity was distributed across Bali’s regencies.
