Bedugul — The Attorney General’s Adhyaksa Monitoring Center and the Bali Prosecutor’s Office intelligence team arrested fraud convict Firman Handoko at a restaurant in Bedugul, Tabanan, on Friday, 9 October 2026. Prosecutors then handed him to the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office to serve a two-year-seven-month prison sentence.
Why it matters: The transfer means Handoko can begin serving the two-year-seven-month sentence arising from a fraud case involving reported losses of Rp50 billion.
The arrest followed the Supreme Court’s cassation ruling No. 125 K/Pid/2024, dated 27 February 2024, which found Handoko guilty of fraud under Article 378 of Indonesia’s Criminal Code. The ruling imposed the prison term and recorded losses to victims of Rp50 billion, according to Bali prosecutors’ information cited by Detik Bali and NusaBali.
Detik Bali reported that the fugitive had been sought for 880 days, or more than two years. The operation began with coordination between the monitoring centre and Bali prosecutors on the night of 7 October, followed by tracking of Handoko’s movements.
NusaBali reported that Handoko was travelling with his wife and two children when he was arrested. He was taken to the Bali Prosecutor’s Office before being transferred to the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office for execution of the final court ruling.
The arrest was part of prosecutors’ effort to enforce court decisions that have permanent legal force, according to Bali prosecutors’ explanation reported by the two outlets.
