Bedugul — Firman Handoko, a fraud convict wanted to serve a final court sentence, was arrested at a restaurant in Bedugul, Tabanan, Bali, on Friday, Oct. 9, 2026. A joint team from the Attorney General’s Adhyaksa Monitoring Center and the Bali High Prosecutor’s Intelligence Team carried out the arrest.
The case involved losses of Rp50 billion (about US$3.1 million) for victims. The Supreme Court’s cassation ruling, issued on Feb. 27, 2024, found Handoko guilty of fraud under Article 378 of the Indonesian Criminal Code and imposed a prison sentence of two years and seven months.
Reports said Handoko was arrested while on a holiday with his wife and two children. The operation was conducted without physical resistance, and the family was taken to the Bali High Prosecutor’s Office. Handoko was later handed over to the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office for administrative processing and execution of the final judgment.
Why the arrest matters
The arrest shows that a final Indonesian court judgment can still be enforced after a convicted person has remained at large. For foreign residents and visitors, the practical point is that a criminal conviction and an outstanding enforcement order remain matters for Indonesian law-enforcement authorities even when the person is found outside the place where the case was originally heard.
The pursuit crossed several provinces before ending at the Bedugul restaurant. The arrest team said Handoko was cooperative, and the operation was completed safely and in an orderly manner. The case had initially been heard by the Denpasar District Court before the Supreme Court ruling confirmed the prison term.
After his transfer to the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office, Handoko was to undergo the procedures connected with carrying out the final court decision.
