Nusa Penida — KMP Nusa Jaya Abadi resumed public ferry service from Nusa Penida on Monday morning, Oct. 5, after repairs to a leaking hull were completed. The vessel departed according to its schedule at 08:00 WITA (UTC+8).
The resumption restores the only roll-on/roll-off ferry owned by the Klungkung Regency Government to the route. The vessel had been undergoing repairs after a hull leak, which brought forward its planned maintenance period.
Why it matters to visitors and residents
For foreign visitors and residents travelling between Nusa Penida and Bali’s mainland, the return of KMP Nusa Jaya Abadi adds a public-ferry option to the island’s transport network. The service is scheduled to run twice daily, although the report does not state the full timetable beyond the first departure at 08:00 WITA.
The vessel’s return also affects the movement of vehicles and goods. During the repairs, logistics services on the route relied on Landing Craft Transport vessels, while passengers were directed to fast boats operating through ports serving Nusa Penida and the Klungkung mainland.
The schedule and restart were confirmed by I Wayan Putra Suijana, head of the Transportation and Facilities Division at the Klungkung Transportation Agency. The report says the service resumed from Nusa Penida on Oct. 5, 2026, with two sailings scheduled each day.
