Labuan Bajo — Visitors and vehicles entering Komodo National Park without valid entrance tickets face an administrative fine of five times the normal entrance fee, under a rule announced by the Komodo National Park Office on Sept. 23.
The enforcement follows the discovery of visitors entering the park without tickets. The rule applies to people and vehicles entering the park and was reported on Sept. 25.
Why the ticket rule matters to visitors
For foreign visitors, the measure means that a valid ticket is required before entering Komodo National Park. The penalty is not described as a flat amount: it is calculated from the normal entrance fee applicable to the visitor or vehicle.
The Komodo National Park Office, known in Indonesian as Balai Taman Nasional Komodo, said each visitor must hold a valid ticket that corresponds to the activity being undertaken. The reported rule applies per person per day for visitors and per unit per day for vehicles.
Tour operators are affected because groups and boats entering the park must be properly ticketed. The ticket-enforcement provision is contained in an official announcement dated Sept. 23, issued after officers continued to find tourists entering without tickets.
