Tabanan — Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) Tabanan and local partners cleared illegally dumped waste from the bank of the Yeh Dati River in Desa Banjar Anyar, Kecamatan Kediri, on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2026. At least two truckloads of waste were removed to prevent rubbish from polluting the river.
The cleanup involved the village government, territorial authorities, Kunti Bakti nongovernmental organization, military and police personnel, and employees of Rumah Sakit Puri Bunda. Balipost reported that the collected waste was taken to an appropriate waste-management facility. Detik reported that the operation took place on the western side of Rumah Sakit Puri Bunda, opposite Toko Asia Jaya, in an area identified as an illegal dumping site.
Why the Yeh Dati cleanup matters to visitors and foreign residents
For people living in or visiting Tabanan, the operation shows that waste disposal along the river is being treated as an environmental and public-management issue, not simply as an unsightly roadside problem. The riverbank is used by nearby residents, including people living in boarding houses, and waste placed beside the water can be carried into the river.
Head of DLH Tabanan I Made Surya Dharma said the waste was believed to have come from residents in the surrounding area. Detik reported that authorities planned to strengthen monitoring after the cleanup, including the installation of closed-circuit television cameras and supervision by the traditional village. DLH and local security personnel also urged residents and boarding-house occupants not to discard household waste beside or in the river and directed them to coordinate with the local administrative head about household-waste collection.
Balipost said DLH Tabanan has provided alternatives, including drop-off points, so residents have designated places to dispose of waste. It also reported that similar waste problems had been found near Rumah Sakit Puri Bunda and that riverbank areas were cleaned regularly with residents, military, police and environmental officials.
