Bali’s official tourism data show that foreign arrivals are tracked separately from domestic travel, hotel occupancy and length of stay. The Bali Government Tourism Office’s 2026 releases provide monthly arrival and accommodation indicators, while BPS-Statistics Indonesia defines tourism statistics as covering arrivals, overnight stays and tourism-industry activity.

What does Bali’s official tourism data measure?

The Bali Government Tourism Office publishes monthly tourism statistics that include foreign-tourist arrivals, distribution data, length of stay, room occupancy and domestic-tourist visits, according to the office’s statistics index in 2026.

BPS-Statistics Indonesia says tourism statistics cover visitor activity such as arrivals and departures, overnight stays, expenditure and purpose of visit, as well as tourism industries and infrastructure, according to BPS’s tourism statistical-data page.

How many foreign tourists arrived in Bali in January 2026?

The Bali Government Tourism Office reported 502,205 direct foreign-tourist arrivals in January 2026, according to its January 2026 arrival dataset.

The same dataset records 529,897 direct foreign-tourist arrivals in January 2025. The figures count direct arrivals, not all tourism activity occurring in Bali.

Why should arrivals not be treated as hotel demand?

Arrivals count visitors entering Bali, while room occupancy measures the share of available hotel rooms occupied; length of stay indicates how long guests remain. These are separate indicators in the Bali Government Tourism Office’s 2026 statistical releases.

A rise or fall in arrivals therefore does not, by itself, establish the same movement in hotel occupancy or total overnight stays. Those measures must be read from their own reported data.

Where can readers find the official figures?

The Bali Government Tourism Office’s statistics page lists monthly 2026 releases, including January, February, March, April, May, June and July data, according to the page updated in 2026.

BPS-Statistics Indonesia’s Bali office provides the statistical framework for tourism measures, including arrivals, overnight stays and tourism-industry activity, according to its tourism data page.
