Denpasar — Indonesian immigration authorities deported an Australian man identified as BA from Bali to Brisbane on Sept. 8 and imposed a 10-year ban on his return, after police and immigration handled a case linked to an alleged indecent act in the North Kuta area of Badung regency.

Multiple Indonesian media outlets reported that BA, 28, was deported on a Batik Air flight from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Tuesday night, with the action confirmed the following day by Ngurah Rai Immigration Office head Muhamad Novyandri.

The case centred on a video that circulated on social media and was said to show a foreign couple in an alleged sexual act at a property on Jalan Pantai Berawa, Tibubeneng village, North Kuta. Reports said immigration officers stopped BA at the airport on Aug. 25 as he was preparing to fly to Brisbane.

Airport stop and police handover

According to Indonesian media reports, BA entered Indonesia on a visa on arrival. He was then handed to Badung Police, which later recommended deportation before returning him to immigration officials on Aug. 26.

Reports also said the alleged incident took place on Aug. 21 and that the video spread on social media the next day. The person who first noticed the pair was identified only by initials in local reporting.

Novyandri said the deportation reflected cooperation between immigration and police in supervising foreign nationals and maintaining public order in Bali. The 10-year entry ban was imposed after authorities considered the nature of the alleged act in a residential area, according to local reports.

Local reporting also said the enforcement followed a broader immigration approach described as firm but humane. No criminal charge was described in the reports reviewed.
