Denpasar — Bali plans to begin testing 11 electric Trans Sarbagita buses in early November 2026, following a launch ceremony scheduled for Oct. 22. Public service is targeted to start on Nov. 1 along a corridor linking GOR Ngurah Rai, Udayana University and Garuda Wisnu Kencana.
The buses have arrived in Bali and are being prepared for the initial phase of operation. The ceremony and the start of public operations would be separate events, with the latter planned for the beginning of November.
Why the Bali bus trial matters to visitors and residents
For foreign residents, students and visitors, the plan adds a zero-emission option on a route connecting Denpasar with southern Bali’s university and tourism areas. The service is expected to use the existing corridor and stops, while charging facilities have been prepared at the Bali Transportation Agency office and GOR Ngurah Rai.
The route is intended to run from GOR Ngurah Rai through Udayana University to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana area. The Bali government previously said the buses were part of the Bali E-Mobility project and would operate under Trans Sarbagita rather than the Trans Metro Dewata service.
The initial trial is designed to test the buses, route, charging facilities and service arrangements before any wider network development. Officials had previously said they were still considering whether passengers would ride free during testing or pay the regular fare once the buses became part of regular public transport.
The schedule calls for the ceremony on Oct. 22 and public operations on Nov. 1. The service is intended to continue after the one-month trial as part of Bali’s public transportation operations.
