Badung organises mangrove clean-up with about 300 participants

Telaga Waja Beach — Badung Regency Government organised a mangrove clean-up at Telaga Waja Beach in South Kuta, Badung, on Friday, 25 September 2026, with about 300 participants.

Why it matters: The event removed hundreds of kilograms of waste from a mangrove area and established further processing, nets and cross-agency cleaning support.

The activity was held as part of World Cleanup Day Indonesia 2026 under the theme “Aksi Bersih Pemuda-Pemudi Merdeka dari Sampah”. Participants came from government institutions, businesses, environmental communities, youth organisations, customary villages, fishing groups and schools, according to Bali Post and Detik Bali.

Participants collected waste along the coast and through the mangrove area. The waste reached hundreds of kilograms and was weighed and separated into organic, inorganic, plastic and residual categories, Bali Post reported.

After sorting, the waste was directed for further handling through waste-processing facilities and environmental foundation partners. The arrangement was intended to support ongoing waste management rather than simply remove the material from the beach.

Detik Bali reported that Badung officials also planned to involve rapid-response teams from several agencies to help keep the mangrove area clean. The regency had installed nets in the area to help prevent waste from becoming trapped there again.

What happens next

The collected waste will undergo further processing through the participating facilities and partner organisations, while cross-agency teams are expected to support continued cleaning of the mangrove area.
