Denpasar — On Oct. 19, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said Bali’s planned fuel-supply coverage had been increased from 11 days to 15 days, rejecting reports that the province’s allocation had been cut by 50 percent.
The decision followed fuel queues in Bali that officials attributed to delays involving fuel ships. Bahlil said the government had instructed the Directorate General of Oil and Gas and the Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency, known as BPH Migas, to raise the target reserve. The Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry said seven ships were deployed to accelerate deliveries.
Why the 15-day reserve matters in Bali
For foreign residents and visitors, the change concerns fuel availability rather than a new rule for motorists. A larger planned reserve is intended to reduce the risk of interruptions at filling stations while shipments reach Bali. It does not mean that individual drivers receive a guaranteed 15-day supply, nor does it set a separate allowance for foreigners.
The ministry said shipping constraints had contributed to the recent queues. Bali’s average fuel reserves had been around 11 to 12 days after distribution improved, while the government sought to lift the target to 15 days. The additional vessels were intended to strengthen the route between Java and Bali and help restore more predictable supplies.
The measure was announced at the Sanggaran Fuel Terminal in Denpasar after a coordination meeting on Oct. 19. Bahlil said Bali’s allocation had not been reduced and that the government was adding to the planned coverage instead. The reports did not state a further deadline for the 15-day target.
