Denpasar — Bali’s traditional calendar marks Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026, as favorable for Dewa Yadnya ceremonies, building sacred places, making granaries or kitchens, and several rice-related activities.
The guidance comes from the Balinese calendar’s ala ayuning dewasa system, which identifies days considered suitable or unsuitable for particular customary and ritual activities. The calendar lists Amerta Dewa as favorable for Panca Yadnya, especially Dewa Yadnya, as well as for building places of worship. It also identifies Srigati as favorable for storing and removing rice from a granary, while Srigati Turun is favorable for seeding or planting rice, storing rice, making offerings at a granary, planting coconut trees and beginning to make merchandise.
Why the calendar matters to visitors and residents
For a foreign resident or visitor, the listing is cultural guidance rather than a general public restriction. It helps explain why a Balinese Hindu household, temple community or farming community may choose Oct. 1 for a ceremony, sacred construction or rice-related work. The calendar does not state that travel or ordinary work is prohibited.
The same entries also record Kala Siyung, described as an unfavorable day that should be treated with caution because it carries a fierce influence. The reports do not provide a separate official validity period or any enforcement measure for the guidance.
The calendar listings are published for Oct. 1, 2026, identified as Wraspati Umanis Ugu and Thursday. They describe customary interpretations for that date and distinguish favorable activities from those regarded as unsuitable within the calendar system.
