Kendari — An updated Bali disaster-management system page added October 9 earthquake entries, including a magnitude 2,4 event centered on land west of Kendari. The page also recorded a magnitude 5,1 earthquake at coordinates 0,77 and 126,03, but did not identify an impact in Bali.

The entries concern separate events recorded on October 9. The Kendari earthquake was reported as felt at intensity II–III MMI in Ranometo, while the larger event occurred offshore southeast of Bitung in North Sulawesi. Reports citing the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysical Agency, Indonesia’s earthquake-monitoring authority, said the magnitude 5,1 event had no tsunami potential and that no casualties or building damage had been reported at the time of publication.

Why the entries matter to Bali readers

The Bali page is a disaster-information log, not evidence that either earthquake affected Bali. For foreign residents and visitors, the practical distinction is that an event listed in a Bali system may be part of a wider regional record rather than a local emergency. The available reporting identifies the Kendari event’s location and the Bitung-area event’s coordinates, but does not describe damage, evacuation or disruption in Bali.

The Kendari report placed the epicenter on land and said the tremor was felt in Ranometo. Separate reports placed the magnitude 5,1 earthquake at 0,77 degrees north latitude and 126,03 degrees east longitude, about 125 kilometers southeast of Bitung, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
