For a short tourist visit to Bali, eligible foreign travellers can use Indonesia’s visitor visa on arrival or electronic visa on arrival, which permits a stay of 30 days from arrival. The immigration authority also requires a passport valid for at least six months, an onward or return ticket and an arrival card submitted within three days before arrival.
How long can a visitor stay on a visitor visa?
The official Indonesian e-Visa portal says the visitor visa is valid for a 30-day stay, while the visa itself has a validity period of 90 days. Those are different periods: the 30 days run from the arrival date, while the visa must be used within its validity window, according to Indonesia’s Directorate General of Immigration, 2026.
What documents are required to enter Bali?
Immigration’s visa FAQ lists a passport valid for at least six months and a return or onward ticket as requirements for visa-on-arrival applications. The e-Visa portal also states that travellers must submit an arrival card within three days before arriving in Indonesia, according to the Directorate General of Immigration, 2026.
Can every foreign visitor use visa on arrival?
Visa on arrival is available to citizens of countries listed by Indonesian immigration who meet the applicable criteria. The official portal says the visa is for tourism, government visits, business meetings, goods purchasing or transit; other purposes require a different immigration status.
What does Bali’s tourism data show?
Bali recorded 697.11 thousand direct foreign-tourist visits in July 2025, up from 625.67 thousand in July 2024, according to Statistics Indonesia’s Bali office, 2025. The same release recorded 2.29 million domestic-tourist trips to Bali in July 2025.
Hotel demand was also measured separately: the occupancy rate for star-rated hotels was 67.75 percent in July 2025, while non-star hotels recorded 49.00 percent, according to Statistics Indonesia’s Bali office, 2025. These figures count hotel-room occupancy, not the number of visitors.
