Singaraja — Buleleng began drainage and sidewalk improvements on Jalan Tasbih, Jalan Angsana, Jalan Anggrek, Jalan Kemuning and Jalan Wijaya Kusuma on Oct. 8, 2026, as work started on roads around the Tasbih area.

The project is intended to address flooding that regularly affects the area during the rainy season while improving sidewalks along the affected streets. Work is being carried out in stages after street vendors rejected a temporary relocation plan, allowing them to continue trading as construction proceeds.

Why the Buleleng drainage project matters

For residents and visitors moving through central Singaraja, the works mean changing road conditions and possible interruptions around the market streets. Reports say motorcycle access remained possible on Jalan Angsana, although traffic sometimes had to move alternately in both directions. Excavation, tree removal and temporary access restrictions may also affect vendors and customers.

Perumda Pasar Argha Nayottama, Buleleng’s market-owned public company, had prepared temporary stalls on Jalan Angsoka, Jalan Melur and Jalan Seruni, with electricity and water. Vendors declined the move because they feared they might not be allowed to return. Officials then agreed that construction would proceed in stages while trading continued.

The project is being carried out under the Buleleng public works agency and is expected to take about three months, with completion targeted for December 2026. One report put the project value at Rp1.912 billion (about US$120,000).
