Denpasar — Denpasar Immigration is pursuing two foreign nationals suspected of illegally coaching other foreigners to ride motorcycles in Serangan, Denpasar, Bali. The two fled when immigration officers arrived during a patrol on Sept. 25, 2026, according to the Directorate General of Immigration and reports by Detik Bali and Tribun Bali.
The case concerns suspected work outside the activities permitted by an immigration stay permit. The authorities have not publicly identified the two alleged instructors or stated their nationalities. Officers instead examined two alleged trainees, identified as RO, a 20-year-old man, and IA, a 21-year-old woman, both from Belarus and holders of a Limited Stay Permit for Remote Workers.
Why the case matters to foreign residents and visitors
For foreigners in Bali, the investigation illustrates that immigration officials are checking whether people’s activities match the purpose of their stay permits. A Remote Worker permit is not presented in the reports as authorization to provide motorcycle instruction. The reports do not state that the two alleged instructors have been arrested or that a final violation finding has been issued.
R. Haryo Sakti, head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, said officers from the office’s Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement team found the suspected instructors at the Serangan location and tried to pursue them after they ran away. The patrol also covered Jalan Tukad Punggawa, described in the reports as an area of foreign activity in Denpasar.
RO and IA are expected to be summoned to the Denpasar Immigration Office for further questioning. Their statements are intended to help investigators establish the identities of the two alleged instructors. The Directorate General of Immigration said the monitoring was intended to ensure that foreigners’ presence and activities in Bali remain consistent with the immigration permits they hold.
