Tabanan — Four Nigerian nationals were detained during a joint immigration-monitoring operation at a boarding house in Batuaji, Kerambitan, on Sept. 24, 2026, according to reports published Sept. 29 and 30.
The change comes as Indonesian immigration authorities continue joint operations to monitor foreign nationals and their activities in Tabanan. The operation involved the Tabanan Class III Non-Immigration Checkpoint Immigration Office and the Tabanan Foreigners Monitoring Team, known as Timpora, with participation from military, police, prosecutors and local government agencies.
The four nationals were identified by the initials VU, OKA, LOA and CHA. Officers said only one of the four could show a passport and residence-permit documents at the location. The group was taken to the Tabanan Immigration Office for further checks concerning travel documents, immigration status and activities in Indonesia.
Why the raid matters to foreign visitors in Bali
For foreign residents and visitors, the operation illustrates the practical importance of carrying valid travel and stay documents during immigration checks. Immigration authorities said that follow-up examinations found the four nationals had violated immigration rules. The reports said the four told officers they were in Bali as tourists.
The action was taken under Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration, as amended several times, most recently by Law No. 63 of 2024. The provision allows immigration authorities to impose administrative measures, including deportation, when a foreign national is considered to have violated immigration rules or to pose a threat to public order.
Before deportation, the four were transferred to the Denpasar Immigration Detention Centre, where they will remain in detention while the deportation process is prepared, according to the reports. The reports did not state when the deportation would take place.
