Jakarta — Indonesia recorded 1,60 million foreign-tourist visits in August 2026, an increase of 6,27 percent from August 2025, according to data cited by the Ministry of Tourism. From January through August, the country recorded 10,58 million foreign-tourist visits, up 5,38 percent year on year.
The figures point to continued expansion in Indonesia’s international visitor market during 2026. Bali remained the country’s leading hospitality destination, keeping the island at the center of demand for hotels and other tourism businesses.
Why Indonesia’s visitor growth matters for Bali
For foreign visitors and residents, the data provides a national measure of tourism activity rather than a forecast for any individual hotel, restaurant or destination. Bali’s position as the leading hospitality destination means that growth in arrivals across Indonesia continues to be especially relevant to businesses and workers on the island.
The January-to-August total rose 5,38 percent compared with the same period in 2025. August alone also showed year-on-year growth, with 1,60 million visits, up 6,27 percent. The figures count visits by foreign tourists and describe movement into Indonesia; they do not represent the number of unique people staying in Bali.
The reported data was released on Oct. 9, 2026.
