Denpasar — Thursday, Oct. 8, 2026, is identified in the Balinese calendar as Wraspati Pon Wayang, a day considered unsuitable for Manusa Yadnya ceremonies.
The guidance appears in the daily ala ayuning dewasa calculation, a traditional assessment of whether a date is favorable or unfavorable for particular activities. The designation does not create a government prohibition; it is calendrical guidance used in Balinese Hindu religious and customary practice.
For foreign residents and visitors, the practical meaning is limited but clear: weddings, tooth-filing ceremonies, hair-cutting rites and other ceremonies classified as Manusa Yadnya may be regarded as poorly timed when held on this date under the cited calendar guidance. The reports do not state that ceremonies are legally barred, nor do they identify a separate immigration, tourism or public-order measure.
Why Oct. 8 matters for ceremonial planning in Bali
The date’s classification comes from the entry called Salah Wadi, which says Manusa Yadnya ceremonies, including wiwaha, mapendes and hair-cutting ceremonies, are not suitable. The same entry also identifies certain Pitra Yadnya rites as unsuitable, although the report at issue concerns Manusa Yadnya.
Balinese calendar guidance combines traditional elements including wuku, sasih, panglong and alahing dewasa to assess a day’s suitability. Other entries for Wraspati Pon Wayang describe some activities as favorable, including planting rice or corn and building a house, underscoring that the assessment applies activity by activity rather than labeling the entire day unfavorable.
The reports do not state any further official action or change after Oct. 8, 2026.
