Bali’s rainfall varies sharply by place and month, so a province-wide label such as “dry season” does not describe conditions everywhere. BMKG’s 2025 annual bulletin recorded daily rainfall above 50 millimetres on several dates, including 385.5 millimetres on 10 September, while BPS reported 697.11 thousand foreign-tourist visits in July 2025.
How much can rainfall vary across Bali?
BMKG’s Bali climatology station reported that rainfall above 50 millimetres in one day occurred on 26 January, 11 April, 10 May, 15 June, 7 July, 10 September and 16 December 2025, showing that intense rain was recorded in multiple months.
The highest daily figure listed in the annual bulletin was 385.5 millimetres on 10 September 2025, according to BMKG, 2025. This is a daily event measurement, not a province-wide monthly average.
Which areas recorded the heaviest monthly rainfall?
BMKG reported that September 2025 rainfall reached 806.5 millimetres in southern Karangasem, with 16 rainy days, according to its October 2025 bulletin. The same bulletin recorded a daily maximum of 390.0 millimetres in southern Badung, in Mengwi district.
For November 2025, BMKG recorded rainfall ranging from 87.0 to 671.4 millimetres across Bali, with the highest monthly total accompanied by 25 rainy days. These figures describe selected areas and should not be treated as a single Bali-wide total.
Why does this matter for Bali’s news and tourism economy?
Weather conditions affect how authorities and residents assess transport, outdoor activity and local flood or landslide exposure, while tourism activity remains substantial. BPS recorded 697.11 thousand direct foreign-tourist visits to Bali in July 2025 and 3.98 million from January through July 2025, according to BPS, 2025.
BPS also reported a 67.75 percent occupancy rate for star-rated hotels in July 2025, according to BPS, 2025. The statistic counts occupied rooms in star-rated hotels and does not measure weather conditions.
What is the clearest way to read Bali’s rainfall data?
Use the location, period and measurement together: a monthly total shows accumulated rainfall in an area, while a daily maximum shows the heaviest recorded one-day event. BMKG’s figures demonstrate why conditions in Karangasem, Badung and other parts of Bali can differ during the same month.
