Denpasar — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecast waves of up to 3,0 metres in the waters south of Bali on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026. The forecast identified conditions that could pose risks to ferries when winds reach 21 knots and waves reach 2,5 metres.
The forecast covers the day’s marine conditions and comes as BMKG’s Bali weather outlook called for mostly cloudy skies, with temperatures across the island expected to range from 19 to 32 degrees Celsius. Winds were forecast from the east to southeast at 4 to 29 kilometres per hour.
Why it matters for coastal travellers
For foreign visitors and residents, the forecast is relevant to ferry journeys and other sea transport serving Bali and nearby waters. The stated thresholds describe when conditions may become risky for ferries; the same report identified a risk to fishermen at winds of 15 knots and waves of 1,25 metres.
BMKG’s marine forecast for the Badung Strait, valid from Oct. 1 at midnight through Oct. 4 at midnight, showed moderate to high waves at several times on Oct. 3. and 9 p.m. The listed gusts reached 25 knots at 6 a.m.
A separate report by Tribun Bali said waves in the waters south of Bali were expected to range from 0,5 to 3 metres and said people in coastal areas and those travelling by sea should pay attention to wave conditions. BMKG’s marine page also urged users to exercise caution and follow local authorities’ directions.
