Karangasem — Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a strong-wind warning for Karangasem on October 7, 2026, while forecasting waves of up to 3.5 metres in waters south of Bali through October 8.
Why it matters: The forecast concerns boat operators, fishermen, tourists and coastal visitors during the October 7–8 warning period.
BMKG’s forecast, reported by Bali Post, covered the period from 8 a.m. local time on October 7 to 8 a.m. on October 8. Winds across Bali were expected to blow from the east to southeast at 4–39 kilometres per hour, with partly cloudy conditions prevailing across much of the island.
The wave forecast for southern Bali waters ranged from 0.5 to 3.5 metres. Bali Post reported BMKG’s operating-risk thresholds as winds of 21 knots with waves of 2.5 metres for ferries, and winds of 15 knots with waves of 1.25 metres for fishing boats.
Tribun Bali separately reported the same forecast and said the conditions warranted attention from fishermen, tourists and people using boats or spending time around the coast. Northern Bali waters were forecast to have waves of 0.5 to 2 metres.
The Bali Provincial Disaster Management Agency’s October 1–10 outlook described Bali as remaining in the dry season and forecast generally partly cloudy conditions from October 7 to 10, with possible light rain in Tabanan and Buleleng.
