Alun-Alun Ida Dewa Agung Jambe — Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia (PHDI) Klungkung and the Klungkung regency government held a free mass Manusa Yadnya ceremony here on 10 October 2026, attended by hundreds of Hindu worshippers.

Why it matters: Hindu residents in Nusa Penida could have access to a similar free mass-ritual programme next year, reducing the need to travel to mainland Klungkung if the plan proceeds.

The programme was designed to help Hindus carry out religious obligations without the financial burden of arranging ceremonies individually, according to PHDI Klungkung and the regency government.

The ceremony offered several rituals, including Mepandes, or tooth filing; Bayuh Wayang Sapuh Leger; Bayuh Sukerta; Bayuh Tampel Bolong; hair-cutting rites; and the three-month ceremony. The programme was planned for all Hindu devotees in Klungkung, according to the Klungkung regency government.

RRI reported on 9 September that the ceremony was scheduled for Saturday, 10 October, at Alun-Alun Ida Dewa Agung Jambe. The report said residents were asked to coordinate with PHDI Klungkung or the local committee to register for the free services.

After the ceremony, Klungkung Regent I Made Satria said the regency government and PHDI planned to hold a similar event in Nusa Penida next year. The expansion is intended to serve residents of the island and reduce the cost of travelling to mainland Klungkung, according to detikBali.

The event’s organisers said mass ceremonies could also strengthen solidarity and mutual cooperation among Hindu communities. The Nusa Penida plan would extend the free-service programme beyond the mainland if it proceeds as announced.
