Gianyar warns of heat, fire risk and high waves

Gianyar — Gianyar’s Command Center urged residents, visitors and marine users to take precautions on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, after weather information indicated temperatures of up to 33°C and high waves in waters south of Bali and the southern Lombok Strait.

Why it matters: From September 28 to October 4, outdoor and marine activities in Gianyar and nearby waters face forecast heat, fire risk and waves of 2.5 to 4 metres.

The warning covers the period from September 28 to October 4, according to Tribun Bali, which said the Command Center was responding to a forecast issued by the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency’s Denpasar regional office.

People outdoors were advised to maintain their water intake and consider the effects of heat, dehydration and ultraviolet exposure. Dry conditions during the peak of the dry season, combined with forecast winds of 4 to 30 kilometres per hour, could allow fires to spread quickly, and residents were urged not to burn rubbish carelessly.

BMKG forecast waves of 2.5 to 4 metres in the waters south of Bali and the southern Lombok Strait. Moderate waves were also possible in Badung Strait, according to the report.

The warning applies to coastal communities, fishers and marine-tourism operators as well as people carrying out land-based outdoor activities. The report said people at sea should put safety first and postpone activities if weather conditions deteriorate.
