Woman dies in suspected rubbish-burning fire in Central Lombok

Lombok Tengah — A 57-year-old woman identified as M was found dead with severe burns on Tuesday, Oct. 6, after apparently becoming trapped while burning rubbish behind her home in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

The incident occurred in Dusun Lendang Paok, Desa Selebung, Kecamatan Batukliang. Agus Kusumahadi, the head of Selebung village, said the area contained dry leaves and trees, while hot weather may have allowed the flames to spread quickly. The account came from the victim’s family and local officials.

Relatives found the woman after she had been missing since the afternoon. Her body was taken to Bhayangkara Hospital in Mataram for an autopsy. The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Lombok Police was examining the scene as authorities sought to establish the precise cause of death.
