Bali International Hospital begins operations in Sanur SEZ with 255 beds

Sanur, Bali — Bali International Hospital has begun operations within the Sanur Health and Wellness Special Economic Zone, bringing a 255-bed, international-standard facility into Bali’s private healthcare and emerging medical-tourism market.

The hospital’s own materials state that it opened in April 2025 in the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone, and that it is designed to meet international healthcare benchmarks while serving both domestic and international patients. A separate press report in April 2025 described BIH as already in an initial operating phase ahead of a grand opening planned for June 2025.

The facility aims to reduce the need for Indonesians to seek advanced treatment abroad and to position Bali as a destination for patients who may combine medical care with tourism and wellness stays. According to the hospital, it offers over 255 private rooms and clinical specialties including cardiology, oncology, neurology, orthopedics, and gastroenterology and hepatology, integrated with on-site hospitality providers for medical and wellness packages.

Initial specialist services highlighted for the hospital include oncology (cancer care), cardiology (heart health), emergency services, integrated clinics, radiology and radiotherapy, and comprehensive medical check-ups, with additional specializations to be introduced gradually. BIH emphasizes advanced diagnostic and treatment technology such as PET-CT, 3.0 Tesla MRI, 256-slice CT scanners, Varian TrueBeam linear accelerators and SagiNova brachytherapy systems for cancer care.

Across a land area of about 67,000 square metres in the Sanur Health and Wellness Special Economic Zone, Bali International Hospital provides 255 beds, 38 intensive care units, eight operating rooms, four catheterisation laboratories and five Centers of Excellence. The site is described as near-beachfront, with modern infrastructure and room for expansion.

BIH has announced multiple international partnerships. Hospital publications and partner statements list collaborations with Icon Cancer Centre (part of Icon Group), Innoquest and Pathology Asia Holdings for diagnostics, Sapporo Cardiovascular Clinic from Japan, Hong Kong Asia Medical Group, and Singapore’s SingHealth for clinical services and medical education. These partnerships are intended to support knowledge transfer, clinical skill development and service quality improvements at the Sanur facility.

The hospital is managed by PT Pertamina Bina Medika – Indonesia Healthcare Corporation (IHC) and is positioned in official materials as a future hub for medical tourism referrals across ASEAN.
