Lombok Tengah — The operator of Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is completing upgrades to fire protection and electrical infrastructure ahead of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia, which is scheduled to run from 9–11 October 2026 at the Lombok venue, according to the official MotoGP calendar and event organisers.

The October race weekend is listed for 9–11 October 2026 by MotoGP and multiple motorsport schedule services, which describe a three-day programme of practice, qualifying, a Sprint race and the main Grand Prix on Sunday.

While detailed engineering timelines for the fire and electrical projects have not been publicly set out, recent preparation updates from circuit stakeholders state that fire protection and electrical work for the MotoGP event has reached or is close to full completion as part of a wider readiness programme.

Injourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), the state-owned tourism developer that oversees The Mandalika special economic zone, has previously outlined a strategy to use the circuit as a year-round sports and tourism hub, with a packed 2026 calendar including national racing series and the October MotoGP round.

Fire protection upgrades

Recent statements from parties involved in MotoGP preparations indicate that fire protection measures at Mandalika form part of a broader effort to bring the circuit’s support facilities up to the standards required for top-level international competition.

According to economic and business reporting on the preparations, fire protection works around the circuit — including storage areas and common garages — are described as having reached 100 percent completion, alongside electrical and other supporting facilities.

These works are understood to focus on fixed infrastructure such as detection systems, hydrant networks, pumps and other equipment intended to improve emergency response capability in paddock and support areas.

Electrical capacity strengthened

The same preparation reports note that electrical systems at the circuit have been reinforced ahead of the October race weekend, with electrical work also characterised as 100 percent complete.

Strengthening electrical capacity at the venue is aimed at supporting racing teams, broadcast and event operations, and other activities in The Mandalika tourism area as the circuit handles a dense calendar of national and international events.

Organisers of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia promote Mandalika as a modern street circuit within a coastal tourism zone, underlining that infrastructure reliability is central to delivering a safe and uninterrupted race weekend.

Busy 2026 calendar

Event organisers for Mandalika have released a 2026 calendar that positions the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia on 9–11 October as one of the peak moments of the year, alongside domestic racing series and the Mandalika Festival of Speed held on other weekends.

Indonesia’s national tourism portal also highlights the October MotoGP round, describing a three-day programme of free practice on Friday, qualifying and Sprint Race on Saturday, and the main race on Sunday, reinforcing the circuit’s role as a flagship destination for motorsport-driven tourism.

The high number of events and visitors expected at Mandalika through 2026 has been cited by organisers and tourism authorities as a key reason for continued investment in the circuit’s supporting infrastructure, including safety and utility systems.
