Pelaga — Bali Tourism Board chair IB Agung Partha Adnyana called for safety audits of tourist accommodation on Nov. 3, 2026, after a landslide struck Pelaga Eco Park in Petang, Badung, on Nov. 1.
The call followed reports that the landslide swept away one glamping building and damaged or destroyed other structures at the accommodation. Two visitors were still missing after the incident, while other guests were evacuated. Heavy rain preceded the landslide, and access to the site was difficult because of debris and steep terrain.
Safety audits would affect nature-based stays across Bali
For foreign visitors, the proposal points to closer scrutiny of accommodation built in areas exposed to steep slopes, rivers and other natural hazards. Glamping, a form of lodging that combines camping with fixed rooms or tents, has expanded as a tourism offering in Bali. An audit would examine whether such sites meet safety standards appropriate to their location and facilities.
Pelaga Eco Park Glamping Retreat is in Pelaga Village, Petang District, Badung Regency. The site had six glamping rooms, with one swept away and five damaged to varying degrees. The landslide was also described as affecting three villas or several glamping structures. The incident occurred late on Nov. 1 after heavy rain, and search-and-rescue personnel continued looking for the two missing visitors.
The safety-audit call places the incident in a broader discussion about oversight of nature-based accommodation. Badung officials separately said the security and environmental conditions around tourist accommodation would be evaluated after the landslide.
