SMK Pariwisata Dalung — SMK Pariwisata Dalung held a pawintenan initiation ceremony for new Grade 10 students during Saraswati celebrations on Saturday, October 31, 2026, according to Bali Post and Tribun Bali.
Why it matters: New students and their families can see how one Bali tourism school combines formal education with Saraswati observance, local customary participation and Balinese arts training.
The ceremony is a Hindu ritual associated with purification and seeking blessings before the students begin their education at the school. School head I Putu Gede Panca Wasidipa said the tradition is maintained to connect education with spiritual, customary and cultural values.
The school worked with Padangluwih Customary Village to prepare the ritual offerings. Local temple priests, offering makers and ceremony specialists were involved, according to the reports.
The Saraswati programme also included dance and gamelan performances presented by the school’s Grade 10 and 11 students. The school said the performers came from its own arts, culture and tradition activities rather than being hired from outside.
Creative competitions began on Friday, October 30, including penjor decoration, gebogan arrangement, daksina pejati preparation and Balinese cooking. The activities were presented as part of the school’s effort to preserve local traditions while preparing students for work in Bali’s tourism industry.
