Denpasar — Traditional Balinese calendar guidance for Sunday, 1 November 2026, lists several activities as unsuitable under specific day classifications, including weddings, cremation ceremonies and house building.
Why it matters: Readers planning weddings, cremation rites or house construction on 1 November 2026 may encounter customary guidance marking those activities as unsuitable under specified classifications.
The guidance, known as ala ayuning dewasa, is used by Balinese Hindu communities to assess whether particular days are considered favourable or unfavourable for customary and ritual activities, according to Detik Bali and Bali Post.
For 1 November, the Carik Walangati classification is described as unsuitable for weddings, atiwa-tiwa or ngaben cremations, and building a house. Kala Gotongan is listed as unsuitable for burying or cremating the dead, while Kala Mretyu is described as unsuitable for sexual relations and yadnya ceremonies.
The Salah Wadi classification is listed as unsuitable for Manusa Yadnya ceremonies, including weddings and hair-cutting rites, as well as Pitra Yadnya ceremonies such as burial, cremation, nyekah and ngasti. Kala Rau is described as unsuitable for building or roofing a house.
The same guidance lists some activities as favourable under other classifications. Banyu Urug is considered suitable for building a dam but not for digging a well, while Kala Katemu is considered suitable for fishing, hunting and holding meetings. Kala Prawani is described as unfavourable for all activities.
Bali Post said the calendar is a traditional guide for judging whether activities are considered appropriate on a given day. For rituals or important customary decisions, it reported that people are generally advised to consult local customary or religious leaders.
