How Bali’s official statistics are produced and counted
Bali’s official numbers come from different statistical products. Here is how BPS publications and the provincial tourism authority’s arrival data define coverage, reference years and temporary figures.

Bali’s official statistics are organised through recurring releases rather than one single live dashboard. BPS-Statistics Indonesia publishes province-wide annual and thematic datasets, while Bali’s tourism authority publishes arrival spreadsheets; together, they show how readers can distinguish broad structural indicators from tourism counts and check each figure’s coverage and date.
Which institution publishes Bali’s core statistics?
BPS-Statistics Indonesia’s Bali office publishes Bali Province in Figures 2025, an annual bilingual statistical publication released on February 28, 2025, according to BPS, 2025. Its catalogue number is 1102001.51, according to BPS, 2025.
BPS also issues focused releases, including labour-force, consumer-price, tourism, agriculture and other indicators. The February 2025 labour-force release was published on May 5, 2025, according to BPS, 2025.
How are tourism arrivals counted?
BPS publishes monthly tourism-overview releases, including one covering July 2025 that was released on September 1, 2025, according to BPS, 2025. A monthly tourism release is therefore a defined statistical snapshot, not a permanent total.
Bali’s tourism authority separately publishes a spreadsheet titled “Direct Foreign Tourist Arrivals to Bali by Nationality by Month in 2025”. It labels the figures as temporary data and records 594,853 direct foreign arrivals in October 2025, according to Bali’s tourism authority, 2025.
What does a figure’s year actually mean?
The year may describe the observation period, the publication year or both. BPS released Essential Statistics Indicators of Bali Province 2024 on June 20, 2025, showing why readers should identify the reference year separately from the release date, according to BPS, 2025.
For tourism, the authority’s October 2025 entry is explicitly part of a monthly 2025 series and is marked temporary, according to Bali’s tourism authority, 2025. That status matters when comparing it with a final annual statistic.
Which source should readers use?
Use BPS for province-wide statistical series and methodological context, then check the relevant thematic release for its reference period. Use the tourism authority’s monthly file for its stated direct-arrival count, while retaining the file’s temporary-data qualification.
