Sanur — A new wellness-focused community calling itself Bali Wellness Community (BWC) has held its first Mat Pilates gathering at Maya Sanur Resort & Spa in Sanur, positioning the group as a hub for wellness enthusiasts and content creators in Bali, according to Bali Portal News.
The inaugural session was described as a small, paid event bringing together around 20 participants for a seaside Mat Pilates class and networking with wellness brands. Maya Sanur promotes Mat Pilates and other movement-based wellness activities as part of its regular spa and wellness program.
Bali Portal News identifies BWC’s founders as Dewa Ayu Inda and Jessica Liani, and reports that the initiative is presented by the founders as a sister community to Bali Beauty Blogger, expanding that group’s focus into wellness and healthy living.
According to the founders’ comments reported by Bali Portal News, the community is intended to offer more than exercise sessions, functioning as a space for participants to build connections, learn, develop and explore collaborations involving local communities, content creators and wellness brands in Bali.
The launch gathering carried the theme “Movement, Healthy & Glow Session – Mat Pilates by The Sea View”, with organizers emphasising the slower, more personal nature of Mat Pilates and its focus on movement, breathing, strength and body awareness. Maya Sanur’s wellness program similarly highlights movement classes such as yoga and Mat Pilates, alongside holistic offerings including traditional and spiritual healing, massages and energy therapies.

According to Bali Portal News, the Sanur event was structured as a small-scale paid session designed to maintain a personal atmosphere. Key elements of the launch included:

- Location: Maya Sanur Resort & Spa, Sanur
- Fee: Rp250,000 per person, with Rp200,000 offered for early bookings

Bali Portal News reports that the founders see growing interest in wellness and healthy lifestyles in Bali, alongside a rising number of wellness-oriented content creators, and describe BWC as a response to people seeking time to pause and maintain balance amid busy routines.
The organizers, as quoted by Bali Portal News, emphasise that wellness activities do not need to be complicated, and say they aim to encourage participants to set aside time for themselves, move, breathe and enjoy the process. The community’s longer-term ambition, according to the same report, is to act as a bridge connecting wellness enthusiasts, creators and wellness brands in Bali.
Context
Maya Sanur positions itself as a beachfront resort with spa and wellness facilities offering movement-based sessions such as yoga and Mat Pilates, as well as broader wellness programs that combine traditional and spiritual healing and recreational activities. The BWC launch taps into this existing wellness setting in Sanur, using a resort-based Mat Pilates class as the centerpiece of its first gathering.
The event took place against a wider backdrop of health and wellness development in Sanur, including hotel spas, fitness centres and yoga pavilions that are already operational and offering movement classes and holistic treatments in the area. These resort-led wellness offerings currently form much of the practical “wellness” activity available to visitors and residents in Sanur.
