BMKG Flags Waves Up to 3,5 Metres Off Southern Bali

Denpasar — BMKG forecast generally clear-to-cloudy conditions across Bali on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026, with temperatures of 19-33 °C and waves of up to 3,5 metres in the waters south of Bali.

The forecast was reported by Bali Post, which said the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, known as BMKG, issued the outlook for the island. Its early-warning information for 08.00 WITA on Thursday through 08.00 WITA on Friday indicated no regency or city in Bali was under a rain warning ranging from light to extreme.

BMKG’s report also identified potential risks for vessels. Ferries could face danger when wind speeds reach 21 knots and wave heights reach 2,5 metres. Fishing boats face risk at wind speeds of 15 knots and waves of 1,25 metres.

Southern Bali waters could reach 3,5 metres

For the day, the reported wind direction was east to southeast, at 4-32 kilometres per hour. Humidity was forecast at 60-95 percent. The detailed sea forecast gave southern Bali waters a range of 0,5-2,5 metres, while BMKG’s warning highlighted the potential for waves up to 3,5 metres in the waters south of Bali.

For visitors and foreign residents, the forecast means that ferry crossings and fishing activity in southern waters may be affected by sea conditions even while land weather remains generally clear to cloudy. The warning concerns marine travel and work rather than a general closure of Bali’s beaches, roads or airports.

The report attributed the forecast to BMKG information shared through the agency’s Bali account. No later operational decision by a ferry operator or port authority was stated.
