Lombok — Traffic to the Mandalika International Circuit in Central Lombok moved slowly on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026, ahead of the MotoGP Mandalika main race. Queues stretched from the Bundaran Bandara Internasional Lombok, along the bypass road and through Bundaran Songgong, to the circuit’s eastern parking area.
The congestion involved motorcycles, minibuses and private cars traveling toward the venue. A spectator from Mataram, Nasri, told detikBali that he left at 09:00 WITA (UTC+8) and arrived at about 10:30 WITA after spending more than an hour on the journey. The report said the most severe buildup was around Bundaran Songgong.
Chairy, identified in the report as an official, said the situation was dense traffic rather than a total standstill. The report attributed the queues to the increased volume of vehicles heading to the circuit and strict checks at the entrance. Combined personnel from the West Nusa Tenggara Transportation Agency and the Central Lombok Transportation Agency were stationed at several checkpoints to manage the buildup.
Why the Mandalika traffic mattered to visitors
For spectators and other visitors arriving through Lombok International Airport, the report showed that the final approach to the circuit could take substantially longer than the distance alone suggested. The affected route included the airport roundabout, the bypass road and Songgong roundabout before reaching the eastern parking area.
The main race was scheduled for 15:00 WITA on Oct. 11. The Mandalika circuit was described as having a 4.3-kilometer track, with the race scheduled for 27 laps. Transport officials’ deployment indicated that traffic control was focused on several access points rather than a single location.
The report did not describe a road closure or a total traffic stoppage. It said officials were working to reduce and anticipate further vehicle accumulation while spectators continued traveling to the circuit.
