Bali Police Probe Alleged Rp6.8 Billion Gold Fraud at PT New Emas Now
Bali police are investigating a reported gold buyback scam involving PT New Emas Now, after 23 people alleged losses of about Rp6.8 billion in complaints filed on 11 September 2026.

Denpasar — Bali police are investigating an alleged gold-investment fraud involving PT New Emas Now after 23 people reported losses totaling about Rp6.8 billion, according to local reports citing police spokesman Kombes Ariasandy.
The case was reported to the Bali Police on 11 September 2026 and was still under investigation on 15 September, the reports said. Police said the complaint was registered under report number LP/B/782/IX/2026/SPKT/POLDA BALI.
According to the reports, the allegations centre on a gold buyback arrangement that promised high resale prices. The company allegedly failed to make payments when transactions reached their due dates.
One complainant, identified only by the initial L, alleged fraud or embezzlement. The complainant said they became interested in the arrangement in December 2025 and carried out 21 transactions between 26 May and 29 June 2026 involving 197.250 grams of gold valued at Rp676.7 million.
The complainant also said they sent two formal demands to the company, but received no response. When they visited the office, it was closed, and they met 22 other people who said they had experienced the same problem.
Police identified three reported parties in the filing: ML, PAL and JKR. ML was described as the finance director, while police said the roles of PAL and JKR were still being examined.
The reports said the matter remained at the inquiry stage, with no indication that police had announced arrests or suspects. No court proceedings were reported.
The figures cited in the complaint were 23 complainants, alleged losses of Rp6.8 billion, and the individual transactions involving L worth Rp676.7 million. The same reports also said the company was still under police scrutiny as investigators continued to examine the case.
