Denpasar — Denpasar police are investigating the death of IKS, a 26-year-old man from Bugbug Village, Karangasem, who was found injured beside the Ngurah Rai Bypass in Kuta on Nov. 2 and died at Prof. Ngoerah Hospital, Sanglah, on Nov. 4, according to reports.

The case began after IKS was found lying near Krisna Oleh-Oleh during heavy rain and darkness, with a badly damaged motorcycle beside him. The Bali Post reported that his brother filed a police report alleging assault, while investigators examined whether the injuries resulted from a traffic accident or criminal violence.

Why the case matters to Bali residents and visitors

The investigation concerns a death on a major road used by residents, workers and visitors travelling through southern Bali. Police said the available evidence pointed strongly toward a traffic accident, but the circumstances remained under examination because CCTV coverage and eyewitness evidence were limited.

Medical findings reported by Bali Post included abrasions, bruising and fractures to the face and other parts of the body, as well as symmetrical fractures to both arms. Investigators were coordinating with doctors and traffic officers to assess whether the injury pattern was more consistent with a crash or assault.

Police also examined the motorcycle, whose front section was heavily damaged. The handlebars and upper components were badly damaged, the fork was bent and a mirror had come off. Investigators said that damage was consistent with a high-energy impact rather than deliberate damage caused by human force.

The family declined an autopsy and signed a statement rejecting the procedure. Police said the report alleging assault could be transferred to the traffic unit if the investigation and the medical examination establish that the incident was a traffic accident.
