Denpasar — The Region III Large Center for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics, Denpasar (BBMKG), issued an early warning for moderate to heavy rain in parts of Bali from Oct. 30 through 8 a.m. WITA (UTC+8) on Oct. 31, 2026. The warning covered Badung, Buleleng, Jembrana, Karangasem and Tabanan regencies.
The warning did not apply uniformly across the island. BBMKG said the areas at risk could change during the forecast period, following an earlier warning for Badung, Bangli, Gianyar, Karangasem and Tabanan from Oct. 28 to Oct. 29. Rainfall was expected to be unevenly distributed, meaning conditions could differ between neighboring regencies and tourist areas.
Why the warning matters for Bali visitors
For foreign residents and visitors, the warning means that travel conditions may vary sharply by destination during the stated validity period. The five named regencies include areas used for tourism, road travel and outdoor activities, but the report did not announce a general closure or restriction. The warning concerns the possibility of moderate to heavy rain, rather than continuous rainfall across all of Bali.
BBMKG forecaster A. A. Putu Eka Putra Wirawan urged the public to remain alert to unevenly distributed rain across the island. The agency also forecast wave heights of up to three meters in southern Bali waters and 1.5 meters in northern Bali waters, while warning of waves of two meters or higher in the southern Bali Strait, Badung Strait, Lombok Strait and southern Bali waters.
Separately, the Bali Climatology Station of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency forecast that Bali’s rainy season would begin in November 2026, peak in February 2027 and continue through April 2027. The reports did not state any further action or extension beyond the warning period ending at 8 a.m. WITA on Oct. 31.
