Mangupura — Police confirmed on Oct. 31 that two bags taken from a stall at Pasar Tenten Sading in Mengwi contained leftover snacks. The Mengwi Criminal Investigation Unit opened an investigation after CCTV showed an unidentified person taking the bags.
The theft was reported at a market stall in Lingkungan Dajan Bingin, Mengwi. Police officers from the Mengwi precinct visited the scene on Saturday afternoon after reviewing footage showing the suspected theft. The report said the stall owner had placed leftover consignment goods and sales proceeds on a pillar while the stall was closed.
Why the Mengwi theft matters to visitors and residents
For foreign residents and visitors, the incident illustrates the practical value of keeping cash and personal belongings secured even in a market setting. The report does not identify the person seen in the footage, and it does not say that an arrest has been made.
The bags were discovered missing when one of the vendors whose goods were stored at the stall came to collect the leftover merchandise. The stall owner then checked CCTV from the market area, where the unidentified person was seen taking the bags. The footage was later posted on social media.
Police said the two plastic bags contained leftover snacks. The Mengwi Criminal Investigation Unit was investigating the incident as of Oct. 31.
