Denpasar — Denpasar’s open-unemployment rate fell to 1,4 percent in 2025 from 2,11 percent in 2024, but about 8.000 people remained without work, according to figures reported by Bali Post on Oct. 31, 2026.

The decline left Denpasar with the lowest unemployment rate in Bali, below the national level. The figures were discussed as the city assessed a three-day job fair held from Oct. 27 to Oct. 29, 2026, intended to connect job seekers with employers.

Why Denpasar’s 8.000 unemployed still matter

For foreign residents, visitors and businesses operating in Bali, the figures offer a measure of the city’s labor market beyond the headline percentage. A lower rate does not mean unemployment has disappeared: the reported count was still about 8.000 people. The job fair provided 2.898 vacancies from 40 companies, giving the city a direct way to match available work with people seeking jobs.

Detik reported that the Job Fair ke-20 was open not only to Denpasar residents but also to job seekers from other regions. Its vacancies covered tourism, transportation, trade, banking, education and health, with opportunities in Indonesia and abroad. NusaBali likewise reported that the event was intended to broaden employment absorption, while Bali Post said the city hoped the fair would help reduce unemployment.

The event recorded 2.253 visits and 1.055 job applications, according to Bali Post. The reported figures therefore describe both progress and an unresolved challenge: Denpasar has reduced its unemployment rate, yet thousands remain outside the labor market and the available vacancies do not automatically translate into employment.
