Denpasar — Pura Agung Jagatnatha was receiving Hindu worshippers from 07:00 WITA on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2026, as Saraswati observances began drawing visitors to the temple.

The temple’s managers said they had prepared additional services for the series of worship activities, with the heaviest period expected from 19:00 to 23:00 WITA. Ida Bagus Saskara, a temple pemangku, said preparations had been under way for several days before the observance.

Saraswati is a Hindu holy day associated with knowledge and learning. The observance at Pura Agung Jagatnatha was led by Ida Pedanda Gede Jelantik Kerthajaya of Griya Gede Kaliungu Kelod. Temple officials said services would continue for worshippers attending into the evening.

Why the Saraswati crowds matter in Denpasar

For visitors and foreign residents, the temple’s schedule indicates that the most concentrated activity was expected after sunset, rather than during the morning arrivals. The report described Pura Agung Jagatnatha as a place where worshippers from different locations gathered for prayer, making the evening period the key point of expected congestion.

The observance fell on Saturday Umanis, Wuku Watugunung, according to the report. Temple officials also emphasized that Saraswati should be treated as a religious observance and an expression of gratitude for knowledge, rather than simply as a routine ceremony. Students were expected to pray at their schools before visiting the temple.

Temple managers said their preparations were intended to provide comfort throughout the worship sequence, including for those who continued praying at night. The report did not state a total attendance figure or announce a road closure.
