Badung — Ngurah Rai Immigration deported seven foreign nationals after officials said they used residence permits to market or rent illegal villas in Bali, according to a report dated Oct. 30, 2026. Five additional foreigners were deported for overstaying during the same two-week period, bringing the reported total to 12 deportations.

The enforcement involved foreign residents whose permitted activities did not match the business activities attributed to them. A residence permit authorizes a foreign national to remain in Indonesia under specified conditions; it does not, by itself, authorize marketing or renting accommodation when that activity falls outside the permit’s scope.

Why it matters to foreign residents in Bali

For foreign residents, the reported cases underline the practical distinction between holding legal immigration status and engaging in permitted activities. A foreigner may have a valid residence permit yet still face immigration action if officials determine that the person used it for activities not authorized by the permit. Overstaying is a separate violation and was cited in the five additional deportations.

The reported enforcement took place in Badung under the jurisdiction of Ngurah Rai Immigration. The account did not identify the seven foreign nationals or provide the names of the villas. It also did not specify the exact dates within the two-week period, the types of residence permits involved, or the destinations of the deportees.

The reported total was 12 deportations: seven linked to alleged illegal-villa marketing or rental activity and five linked to overstaying. The report did not state any further enforcement timetable or other next steps.
