Denpasar — The Balai Besar Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BBMKG) Region III Denpasar warned of waves 2.5 to four metres in the Badung Strait, southern Bali waters, the southern Bali Strait and the southern Lombok Strait from Oct. 24 to 27.
The warning applies to waters used by tourist boats and crossings from Denpasar to Nusa Penida. BBMKG said the conditions could endanger navigation, and urged ferry operators to monitor wind and wave conditions before sailing.
Why it matters for Bali’s sea transport
The Badung Strait is a route for water tourism and boat crossings between Denpasar and Nusa Penida. For foreign visitors, the warning means that scheduled or planned sea travel in the affected waters may face hazardous conditions during the stated period; the reported guidance is for operators and passengers to follow official maritime-weather updates.
BBMKG said surface winds in northern Bali waters were forecast from the northeast to south at up to 25 knots, while winds in southern Bali waters were expected from the southeast to southwest at up to 20 knots. It identified ferry operations as at risk when winds reach 21 knots and waves reach 2.5 metres.
The agency also identified risks for barge operators at 16 knots and 1.5-metre waves, and for fishing boats at winds above 15 knots and waves reaching 1.25 metres. BBMKG advised the public to monitor current weather information through its official channels and the Info BMKG application.
