Tabanan — The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency, known as BMKG, warned on Oct. 23 of moderate-to-heavy rain that could be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in Selemadeg, Selemadeg Timur and Pupuan in Tabanan, Bali. The warning said the conditions could spread to three other areas of Bali.

The alert was issued at 1:48 p.m. WITA (UTC+8), with the rain expected to begin at 2 p.m. WITA. BMKG said the conditions were expected to continue until 12:15 p.m. WITA, according to the report carrying its update.

Why the warning matters to visitors in Tabanan

For foreign visitors and residents in western and central Bali, the warning identifies a localized period of potentially hazardous weather rather than a provincewide closure or travel restriction. Heavy rain can affect visibility, while lightning and strong winds can disrupt outdoor plans and road travel in the named districts.

The affected locations are in Tabanan Regency, a Bali area that includes inland and rural routes. The warning applies specifically to Selemadeg, Selemadeg Timur and Pupuan. The report does not identify the three additional areas to which the conditions could spread.

BMKG is Indonesia’s national agency for weather, climate and geophysics information. Its alert described the event as a potential weather development on Oct. 23, rather than a long-term forecast. No further action or closure was stated in the report.
