Mangupura — I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport management reminded passengers and members of the public on 21 October 2026 to maintain order, security and comfort in the international-arrivals pick-up zone in Tuban, Badung.

Why it matters: International-arrivals users and people meeting them can continue using the public pick-up zone, but airport management expects activities there to remain orderly and avoid disrupting operations.

The reminder followed attention to a video showing a group gathered in the zone for “mepradang”, a Balinese family practice associated in this case with sending relatives abroad. The airport said the pick-up zone is a public area open to the community, while stressing that activities there must not disrupt airport operations or services.

Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, the airport’s head of communications and legal affairs, issued the response after the video circulated on social media, according to NusaBali. He called on airport users and members of the public to use the available space in an orderly manner and to observe shared security and comfort.

The airport also said its service approach prioritises safety, security, service and compliance with applicable rules. The reminder did not announce a closure or a new restriction on access to the pick-up zone.

What happened

The gathering took place in the international-arrivals pick-up zone, where a large family was shown eating together before relatives left to work overseas. Tribun Bali reported that the activity reflected family support, prayers and affection for those departing.

The airport’s response was reported on 22 October 2026, while the official was quoted as being contacted on the night of 21 October. The airport’s message was that public access does not remove the shared responsibility to keep the area orderly and prevent interference with airport operations.
