Karangasem — A 46-year-old Czech woman identified as NKH was deported from Bali after immigration officers found her marketing a villa in Abang, Karangasem, while holding a Visa on Arrival for tourism.
The deportation was carried out by the Buleleng Class II Immigration Office through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Oct. 16, 2026. NKH traveled on Qatar Airways flight QR-963 from Denpasar to Doha before continuing to Prague.
Officials said the villa-marketing activity did not match the purpose of her immigration permission. Officers found indications that she promoted the property through Facebook and located a sales sign displaying her contact number at the building. The immigration office imposed deportation as an Administrative Immigration Action and proposed that NKH be placed on a prevention list, which could restrict her return to Indonesia for a period set under applicable rules.
Why it matters for visitors using a Visa on Arrival
A Visa on Arrival permits activities within the purpose for which it was issued. In this case, immigration officials treated marketing a villa as a business activity outside the scope of a tourism stay. For foreign visitors, the practical distinction is that holding a valid entry document does not authorize every form of work or commercial activity in Indonesia; the activity must also correspond to the visa and stay permit held.
The action was based on Article 75 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 122 letter a of Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration. Anak Agung Gde Kusuma Putra, head of the Buleleng immigration office, said foreign nationals must use visas and stay permits according to the purpose of their arrival and that violations would be handled under Indonesian law.
The case followed routine immigration supervision of foreign nationals in Bali. Authorities said enforcement is applied without distinguishing nationality or personal background. The proposed prevention listing is the next stated consequence beyond deportation and would determine whether NKH can return during the applicable period.
