Denpasar — Southern Bali waters could see waves of up to 4.0 metres on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, while Bali is forecast to be cloudy and no district or city is under a rain warning from 08:00 WITA on Oct. 23 to 08:00 WITA on Oct. 24, according to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).
The forecast puts temperatures across Bali between 22 and 34 degrees Celsius. BMKG also projects winds from the east to southeast at 3–30 kilometres per hour. The highest wave range is expected in southern Bali waters, where waves may measure 0.5–4.0 metres; northern Bali waters are forecast at 0.5–1.5 metres.
For marine transport, the forecast identifies risks at lower wave thresholds depending on the vessel and wind conditions. Ferries face risk when winds reach 21 knots and waves reach 2.5 metres. For fishermen, the stated risk threshold is 15 knots of wind and waves of 1.25 metres.
Why the 4-metre forecast matters for Bali travellers
The warning is most relevant to people using ferries, fishing boats and other small vessels along Bali’s southern coast. A cloudy land forecast and the absence of a district-level rain warning do not remove the separate marine hazard: wave conditions can be dangerous even when coastal skies are merely overcast.
BMKG Denpasar separately reported a 2.5–4 metre high-wave warning for Oct. 20–23 in the southern Bali Strait, southern Bali waters, the Badung Strait and the southern Lombok Strait. A national BMKG warning also included the southern Bali Indian Ocean among areas where waves could reach 2.5–4.0 metres from Oct. 23–26.
The forecast applies to Friday, Oct. 23, and the associated rain-warning period ends at 08:00 WITA on Saturday, Oct. 24. Conditions may differ by sea area and vessel route, so the marine forecast is distinct from the weather outlook for Bali’s districts and cities.
