Mangupura — Badung’s Environmental and Sanitation Agency removed about 26 tonnes of marine debris from the Seminyak, Legian and Kuta beaches in 13 truckloads over the two days through Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026. The agency said the material consisted mainly of wood and branches and deployed about 900 personnel as it prepared for higher volumes.

The cleanup marks the beginning of the seasonal marine-debris period along Badung’s western coast. The waste is carried ashore by sea conditions and has begun appearing first in Seminyak and Legian before reaching Kuta, according to the agency’s account.

Why the cleanup matters to visitors and foreign residents

For visitors and foreign residents, the report signals that beach conditions in three of Badung’s best-known coastal areas may change as the season develops. Marine debris can affect the appearance and use of beaches, while the cleanup operation may involve trucks, personnel and temporary handling areas along the shoreline.

The agency said the debris collected so far was dominated by timber and branches rather than household waste from the surrounding communities. That distinction matters because the operation concerns material arriving from the sea and is being handled through Badung’s coastal-cleanup system.

The waste collected in the initial operation was scheduled to be transported to the Suwung landfill on Thursday, Nov. 5. Personnel would be assigned by zones, with routine cleaning staff also helping after completing their regular duties. The report did not state how long the seasonal buildup would last or provide a forecast for the total volume.
