Singaraja — Buleleng Police will enforce Indonesia’s ban on electronic cigarettes for all police personnel, both at work and away from duty, under a National Police chief circular issued on Oct. 30, 2026. The policy was reaffirmed on Nov. 4, 2026, by Buleleng Police Chief Adjunct Chief of Police Ruzi Gusman.
The rule applies to every member of the Indonesian National Police without exception. Personnel who violate it may face disciplinary sanctions under the applicable rules. A separate report says violations may also be handled through the police ethics mechanism.
Visitors to police offices are covered differently. People found vaping on police premises will be warned and asked to turn off and store the device. Officers are not described as imposing the same disciplinary consequences on visitors.
Why the vape ban matters to visitors in Buleleng
For foreign residents and visitors, the practical effect is limited but direct: vaping is not permitted while visiting a Buleleng police office, and staff may intervene if they see it. The visitor-facing response described in the reports is a warning and an instruction to put the device away.
The change comes as the National Police rolls out Circular Letter No. SE/9/X/2026 across its ranks, including police headquarters, regional police offices, district police offices and sub-district police offices. The circular prohibits personnel from using electronic cigarettes both inside and outside the workplace.
Buleleng Police said its personnel must understand and comply with the directive. For officers, the policy carries formal consequences; for visitors, the stated response remains an admonition. The reports do not state a separate deadline or additional visitor penalties.
